Functions
The Equipment Services Division of the Public Works Department provides preventative maintenance on 295 vehicles and pieces of equipment for the City of Muscatine.
Serviced Equipment
Repair and maintenance covers a wide variety of equipment including:
- Dump trucks
- Garbage trucks
- Lawnmowers and mowing equipment
- Pickup trucks
- Salt spreaders and snow plows
- Squad cars
- Tractors
- Transit buses
Maintenance Records
Records are kept for each piece of equipment that is worked on in the maintenance shop and these records are used when replacing equipment and vehicles.
Current Statistics
There are about 1,700 vehicle maintenance work orders and crisis breakdowns worked on in the maintenance garage. Planned maintenance visits per year, which include routine servicing, brake work, and major repairs, total about 1,100.
