Fire Department members spend several hours throughout the year reviewing extrication techniques so that they are staying up to date with techniques. The automotive world continues to change every year and each new vehicle can present certain hazards to firefighting personnel.
Engine 311 and 312 are both supplied with various types of extrication equipment to include spreaders, cutters, air bags, rams and stabilization equipment, so that if needed that district engine can respond to and provide extrication to people trapped inside of a wrecked vehicle. Currently Engine 311 is assigned to extrication duties throughout the City of Muscatine.
